Out West: The City and the Highway
The City and the Highway
This collection, the other half of the “Out West” series, is a record of my experiences traveling through the cities, towns, and back roads of the American West.
Though some of the scenes here evoke nostalgia, they are intended as a record of the West as it still is, rather than as it was--I have generally avoided photographing abandoned places, in favor of those still in use. Given that people and businesses do come and go, it is inevitable that a few have or will succumb to the passage of time, but a traveller retracing my steps within the next few years would still experience most of what I did. Eventually, I suppose, these places will fade away, but then again, so will you and I.
