Photograph of the Month
NEWS
As promised, the Photograph of the Month is from South Dakota. But I also said in the last newsletter that I was taking time to sit down with recent images from my "Plains of Colorado" series. Though there are still many more in progress, I DID get a good number of them up on my website, and you can see how it all turned out by clicking HERE.
(As far as the website goes, the "Out West" section will be updated next--there are many new images, both finished and in progress, to post online. They should be ready in the near future.)
MORE
I was excited to help some of my favorite do-gooders, Meals on Wheels of Littleton, with photographs twice this month. They've just moved to a wonderful new facility with a bigger, better kitchen--all the better to expand their operation and help more people! If you're in South Metro Denver, and would like to get involved, look them up right HERE.

Last month, I told you I'd had the chance to spend some time up in South Dakota, and I promised you pictures. Well, here two of them: The first one, above, is from a beautiful forest in the Black Hills' Spearfish Canyon. I've chosen this image because this quiet place is so different from the way that I had always imagined the state. Though there are indeed wide-opens plains in South Dakota (and I spent my share of time there), I was fortunate to have a hike through Spearfish's woods.

The second image, also from the Black Hills, is a more traditional subject for the area. Still, that same mood of quiet peace is what stayed with me, and so rather than pursue a "herd of buffalo fighting the elements" picture, I made this one of a solitary buffalo in approaching twilight. I will always remember him walking alone in the woods, seemingly in search of his own solitude as evening fell....
Fine-art photographer Zachary Singer has had a camera in hand since childhood—more than three decades now. He came to fine-art photography through his experiences in photojournalism: While shooting for Greenpeace and other environmental groups, as well as Native American tribes in the Southwest, Zach learned to quickly capture the essence of his subjects.
Zach has written dozens of articles on photography for magazines such as Outdoor Photographer, PCPhoto, and Digital Photo Pro, and has taught photography at California’s Santa Monica College. When time permits, he works with a select group of commercial clients.
